36 days of type

36 days of type is a challenge where designers, illustrators and visual artists around the world design a letter of the alphabet each day. I decided to participate but I gave it a twist and created patterns out of each letter – or designed each letter so that i could create a pattern out of it.

The letters are roughly sketched with pencil before making them in illustrator. Then they are traced over again with indian ink so the final prints have a symmetrical yet handmade look. Using this technique helps to break down the static characteristic of the geometrical designs which they have when only made by computers.
