Beatrice Warde — The Crystal Goblet

The Crystal Goblet is an essay written by Beatrice Warde on how typography should aim to be “invisible”. I translated this essay into a zine consisting out of two different parts.

The small zine contains Beatrice’s essay, printed in a classic, modest serif type on a bright-colored paper. The large, underlying zine contains essays from Oded Ezer and Matthew Butterick, both of which contradict her statement. They are visualized by prominent, unpopular types. The Crystal Goblet covers the larger zine, making its cover title partly invisible and with that referring to Beatrice’s wish to make typography invisble. A5 + A3 size.
